White Mustard

Sinapis alba
White Mustard (Sinapis alba) is an annual forb native to midwestern US states (such as Illinois and Ohio) and has also been successfully introduced across North America as a non-invasive cover crop that can thrive in USDA Zones 3–10 as a warm-season annual. Reaching a mature height of 1.5–3 feet with an erect, branching growth habit, it features rough, lobed green leaves and produces bright yellow four-petaled flowers followed by bristly seed pods. It thrives in well-drained loamy soils in full sun and is ideal for agricultural cover cropping, bio-fumigation soil conditioning, and rapid biomass production.
