Trident Saltbush

Atriplex tridentata

Trident Saltbush (Atriplex corrugata) is a perennial evergreen subshrub native to Western US states (such as Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico) that can thrive in USDA Zones 4–8. Reaching a mature height of 6–18 inches with a low, cushion-forming, woody-based growth habit, it features small, thick, silvery-gray scaly leaves and produces small greenish flower clusters followed by winged fruits. It thrives in highly saline or alkaline clay shale barrens and desert badlands in full sun and is ideal for severe badland reclamation, alkali soil erosion control, and mine tailing stabilization.
