Mountain Garland

Clarkia unguiculata
Mountain Garland (Clarkia unguiculata) is an annual forb native to Western US states (such as California) that can thrive in USDA Zones 7–10 as a spring-summer annual. Reaching a mature height of 1.5–3 feet with an erect, reddish-stemmed growth habit, it features lance-shaped green leaves and produces showy, clawed four-petaled flowers ranging from deep pink and magenta to purple. It thrives in dry, sandy or gravelly foothill slopes, oak woodlands, and road cuts in full sun to partial shade and is ideal for spring wildflower meadow seeding, slope revegetation, and native bee forage.
