Reaching a mature height of 3–5 feet with a bushy, shrub-like growth habit, it features clover-like, bluish-green leaves and produces long, erect spikes of deep blue to purple pea-like flowers. It thrives in deep, well-drained soils in full sun to light shade and is ideal for prairie restoration, soil nitrogen fixation, and highway vegetation management.
