Golden Lupine (Lupinus densiflorus) is an annual forb native to Western US states (such as California) that can thrive in USDA Zones 7–10 as a spring annual. Reaching a mature height of 1–2 feet with a stout, succulent upright growth habit, it features palmate green leaves and produces dense, whorled spikes of bright golden-yellow pea-like flowers. It thrives in dry, sunny open slopes, disturbed fields, and clay-loam soils and is ideal for annual wildflower meadow restoration, rapid soil nitrogen enrichment, and native bee forage.
