Fremont's Goldfields (Lasthenia fremontii) is an annual forb native to Western US states (such as California) that can thrive in USDA Zones 7–10 as a spring annual. Reaching a mature height of 4–10 inches with a low-growing, branched growth habit, it features narrow, deeply divided green leaves and produces bright yellow daisy-like flower heads. It thrives in seasonally wet vernal pools, moist clay flats, and seasonal swales and is ideal for vernal pool restoration, seasonal wetland stabilization, and native bee support.
