Lomatium dissectum
Fernleaf Biscuitroot (Lomatium dissectum) is a perennial forb native to Western US states (such as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and California) that can thrive in USDA Zones 4–8. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with a large, stout growth habit from a deep woody taproot, it features large, highly divided fern-like green leaves and produces broad umbels of dark purplish-yellow flowers. It thrives in dry, rocky slopes, canyon walls, and sagebrush steppes and is ideal for dryland slope stabilization, rangeland restoration, and native bee forage.
