Cool season, short-lived, perennial bunchgrass. Excellent forage, with nutritional quality and palatability for livestock similar to Altai wildrye (Leymus angustus). Establishes rapidly and has quick recovery after cutting or grazing. Used in grass mixtures to increase production in young, slow to establish grass stands.
