Coastal Gumweed

Grindelia hirsutula
Coastal Gumweed (Grindelia stricta) is a perennial forb native to Western US states (such as Washington, Oregon, and California) that can thrive in USDA Zones 7–10. Reaching a mature height of 1–3 feet with a sprawling to upright growth habit, it features thick, succulent, resinous green leaves and produces bright yellow daisy-like flower heads covered in sticky white resin before opening. It thrives in coastal salt marshes, beaches, and ocean bluffs and is ideal for coastal dune reclamation, saline soil stabilization, and coastal habitat restoration.
