Coastal Goldenbush (Isocoma menziesii) is a perennial shrub native to Southwestern US states (such as California) that can thrive in USDA Zones 8–11. Reaching a mature height of 2–4 feet with a dense, mounding growth habit, it features thick, resinous, oval-toothed green leaves and produces flat-topped clusters of bright yellow rayless flower heads. It thrives in dry, sandy or clay coastal bluffs and sage scrub slopes and is ideal for coastal bluff stabilization, dryland erosion control, and late-season native bee support.
Isocoma menziesii is a shrub that blooms when most other flowers are finished. It flowers in summer and fall, with many thick clusters of yellow flowers standing upright from the stems. The erect branching stems are generally hairy, and vary in color from gray-green to reddish-brown. The leaves may also be hairy. It grows at a moderate rate up to 3 feet tall.
