California Goldfields (Lasthenia californica) is an annual forb native to Western US states (such as California and Oregon) that can thrive in USDA Zones 7–10 as a spring annual. Reaching a mature height of 4–12 inches with a low-growing, spreading growth habit, it features narrow, linear green leaves and produces carpet-like displays of bright yellow daisy-like flower heads. It thrives in dry to moist valley floors, open grasslands, and coastal bluffs in full sun and is ideal for mass spring wildflower revegetation, roadside plantings, and pollinator support.
